WDM Council
WDM prides itself on being a truly democratic movement, with individuals, groups and our professional staff working together for justice for the world's poor. WDM's Council members approve and monitor all WDM's major policy positions and initiatives, and set the long-term plans and direction of the Movement. Council members' responsibilities include:
- Agreeing a shared vision and strategy for WDM's development created with the Director through the Movement as a whole.
- Ensuring that robust policies and plans, together with the necessary resources, are in place to achieve our strategic aims.
- Monitoring and evaluating performance against approved plans and budgets.
- Ensuring compliance with WDM's objects, its legal and financial responsibilities and securing its long-term financial viability.
The Council of WDM consists of nine people voted for by WDM’s members, up to three people delegated from the Representatives' Forum and a further three co opted people as required to balance the skills or diversity of the Council..
Each council serves for a two year term. Elected members can serve for a total of six consecutive years.
The current Council was elected in July 2006.
The positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, National Secretary, National Treasurer are then elected from within the Council.
An elected sub-committee of Council, the Executive Committee meets between Council meetings and has specific responsibility for financial, personnel and other resources overview.
