Welcome to WDM Ayrshire Group

If you missed...

... when we showed it in Ayr, look out for other independent screenings of this climate blockbuster around Scotland.

Thank you to those who came to watch on a sweltering evening, and to Unison East and South Ayrshire for sponsoring the event.

Heat and light...

WDM Ayrshire's Hot, Hot Climate Justice Quiz brought 18 teams to Ayr pub West of the Moon in March.

As well as having fun, the aim was to highlight a few less well publicised facts about global warming and its effect on the world’s poorest.

For instance, UK outbound flights alone account for a whopping 13% of our greenhouse gas emissions. And it's estimated Heathrow’s third runway will match the entire carbon footprint of Kenya.

Overall winners were Straiton Primary’s ‘Straiton Arrows’ team. Headteacher David Hogg is pictured (above) receiving the prize hamper of Fairtrade goodies from WDM Ayrshire chair Norma Duncan.

A team from homelessness charity SeAscape took second prize. In the climate round, Straiton Arrows beat the Glasgow Wombles on a tiebreak to retain the Perpetual Inflatable Trophy (pictured below).

Quizmaster Mike McLean was in the chair. Fairtrade and planet-friendly prizes were donated by Asda, Tesco and the Energy Agency.
