Join WDM in celebrating forty years of successfully fighting for justice for the world’s poor. With your help, we have exposed injustice, held corporations to account and stopped harmful government policies; winning lasting change for the world’s poorest people.

From our famous victory in the 1994 Pergau Dam court case, which forced the government to stop conditional aid spending, to spearheading the campaign that led to debt cancellation for many of the world's poorest countries, WDM has always punched above its weight.

Four decades on, WDM’s work remains vital. Over the last 20 years globalisation has slowed economic progress in many developing countries, benefiting the few while millions still live in poverty. Recently, the financial crisis and rising food prices have driven 115 million more people into hunger. This situation is exacerbated by climate change – for which the rich world shoulders responsibility.

Once again, WDM is making sure that those with the power to stop this unnecessary suffering are held to account.
This year, we’re campaigning to stop bankers driving up food prices through risky speculation. We’re also opposing the World Bank as it tries to force new debt on poor countries through unjust loans to tackle climate change. We’ll continue to pursue just solutions to these urgent global problems and a new economic model that puts people before profit. As a grassroots-led organisation, we can only continue our long and proud history of tackling the root causes of poverty with your support.
