European Election Hustings
Friday 22nd May: 7pm - 9.30pm @ St John's Church
With elections for the Eurpoean Parliament on June 4th this is your chance to challenge your MEP candidate on Trade Climate change and International Development issues. The hustings will be chaired by WDM director Benedict Southworth and are being held as part of the Edinburgh World Justice festival, which is running from the 18th-31st May.
May Meeting And AGM
The May group meting will be on Monday the 11th of May, 7pm at the quaker meeting house, where there will also be the group's AGM - looking back on what we have been doing in the past year. New members/non-members welcome.
March Meeting
The March group meeting will be at 7pm on Monday the 9th of March at the Quaker Meeting House. Somanath Naraya and Liz Murray from WDM Scotland will be giving a talk on 'Stopping new coal in Scotland; why this will make a difference to the world's poorest people'.
December Meeting
Will be at 7pm at the Friends Meeting House on Thursday 11 December. Newcomers always welcome!
November Meeting
The November group meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday the 10th at the Friends Meeting House. After campaigning discussion Tim Jones will be explaining his recent visit to the Philipines where he witnessed the effects of climate change first hand.
October Meeting
Our October meeting will be at 7pm at the Quaker Meeting House on Thursday the 9th. New members always welcome!
August stalls at the Craft Fair
During the Edinburgh festival the local WDM group took the climate justice and trade campaigns to stalls at the craft fair. We found overwhelming support for a strong Scottish Climate Bill from the public who signed over 200 postcards to John Swinney calling for an 80% reduction in emissions, annual targets, and the inclusion of Scotland's fair share of aviation emissions.
July Meeting
The group's July meeting will be held at the Quaker Meeting House at 7pm on Monday 14th July. Katharine, the Groups Officer from the WDM London office will be coming to give us an update on the Trade Campaign.
March 2008 Activities
The first place you'll find us in March is WDM Scotland's Campaigner Convention in Edinburgh on the 8th March.
Next, we'll have our monthly meeting at 7pm on Monday the 10th March at the Quaker Meeting House. As always, newcomers welcome.
On Monday 17th March, several WDM members will be at the Inaugural General Meeting of the Edinburgh World Justice Festival.
And on Saturday 22nd March it's World Water Day. Join us at the Farmer's Market on Castle Terrace when we ask the public to help us Stop Water Wars.
