Joking for Justice comedy night

Joking for Justice, the World Development Movement's annual comedy night returns to the Leicester Square Theatre for its fourth outing. 

The line-up features top British comedy acts Arthur Smith, Ava Vidal, Kevin Eldon, Holly Walsh, Sara Pascoe, Catie Wilkins, Earl Okin, Ria Lina, Daniel Simonsen, James Dowdeswell, Amadeus Martin and David Morgan (MC)*. 

Expect a night of satire, musical comedy and good old fashioned silliness all in aid of the World Development Movement's campaigning work to win justice for the world's poor. 

It's a bargain at just £20 per ticket. There are more acts yet to be announced, so get yours early to avoid disappointment.

The acts:

Arthur Smith: 

Arthur is a legend of the British comedy scene. He has been performing since the late 1970s and has developed a loyal following with his grumpy persona. Smith will be familiar to Radio 4 listeners though his involvement with shows such as Loose Ends and Excess Baggage. He is also regularly on our screens and has featured on series' such as Grumpy Old Men and The One Show.

Ava Vidal:

Ava came to prominence through TV shows such as E4's Kings of Comedy and the BBC's Urban Sketch Show.  She has gone on to appear on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Mock the Week. Ava regularly performs at comedy clubs throughout the UK and has toured full length solo shows such as Ava Vidal Goes Dutch. She was hugely popular at Joking for Justice in 2012 and is set to be a favourite again at this year's event. 

Holly Walsh

An acclaimed stand-up and writer, Holly Walsh is an established talent in both fields. In 2012 her sitcom, Dead Boss, co-written with Sharon Horgan aired on BBC3. Her stand-up credentials were established with her 2008 Best Newcomer win at the Chortle Awards and confirmed with an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination three years later for her debut Fringe show, Hollycopter. The show also enjoyed a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre in 2012.  Holly has featured on many of the top TV comedy shows including, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Would I Lie To You? and Mock The Week.

Kevin Eldon

Kevin Eldon has become one of the most recognisable faces in British comedy over the past 20 years. Having started his career performing character based stand-up, he went to play supporting roles in TV shows including Brass Eye, Spaced, Black Books, Saxondale, I'm Alan Partridge, Green Wing, Nathan Barley and Big Train

He has more recently returned to performing stand-up and in 2013 starred in his first solo TV show It’s Kevin to great critical acclaim. He ‘s sure to be a favourite at Joking for Justice this year. 

 

Sara Pascoe

Sara Pascoe made her comedy debut in 2007 and has since established herself as one of the most interesting and original comics around. Sara regularly performs solo stand up shows to capacity audiences and has been voted one of Time Out Magazine’s ‘Rising Stars of Comedy’. She has also had two sell-out runs at Soho Theatre as well as sell-out, critically acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Sara boasts an impressive array of TV credits including regular roles in Twenty Twelve, Campus, The Thick of It, Being Human, Stand Up For The Week (C4), and has appeared on Live at the Apollo, QI and The Comedy World Cup.
