Launch of: from here to sustainability
Real World Coalition leads the way
Speaking at the launch of From Here to Sustainability today, Barry Coates, Director of the World Development Movement said:
"This book is much more than an attractively bound collection of policies. The authors have demonstrated the sort of joined up thinking that governments so often talk about but invariably fail to put into practice on development, trade, human rights and the environment.
"Real World is a diverse coalition of campaigns, agencies and non-governmental organisations - large and small. How the UK is governed is of crucial importance to poor people around the world. We share a concern that this is recognised in the forthcoming election. WDM's core campaigning issues are cancellation of all unpayable Third World Debt and the establishment of fair and transparent trade rules. In these areas the UK government has the opportunity to have a massive impact on the living standards of the world's poorest people.

With the general election looming, we are concerned that development issues do not get forgotten in the usual domestic wrangling.
