BAA lose injunction battle with Climate protesters
6 August 2007
Benedict Southworth, Director of the World Development Movement, was at the High Court today to hear if the ruling would have an impact on the World Development Movement’s involvement in the peaceful protest at Climate Camp, he said:
“The court was asked to put the interests of big business ahead of the rights of peaceful protestors and it has largely thrown out this farcical injunction. This attempt to criminalise a vast swathe of the population shows the contempt that BAA has towards the strong and widespread feeling against airport expansion and climate change, which will hit poor countries first and worst. The World Development Movement is relieved that the judge put people above profits, and quashed this audacious attempt to ban peaceful protest.”
