Seeds of Hope

Seeds of hope
The UN estimates that enough food is produced to feed almost double the world’s population, yet 870 million people still go hungry.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Help us challenge the powerful vested interests that stand in the way of a fair food system.
Help us call for food sovereignty now.

Food sovereignty
Food sovereignty views food as a right. It allows communities to define their own food systems, to produce culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable food. It prioritises local need over distant markets and reduces corporate control.
Help us with a gift of £30, or however much you can afford and support the food sovereignty movement.

WDM has been at the centre of the food sovereignty movement in Europe and we now need to actively support the international movement.
With your help we can fight the barriers to food sovereignty and work in solidarity with activists around the world.
Growing change in Venezuela

Leila Ladera
Leila works for a cocoa cooperative in Venezuela. Cocoa production is important for the economy, but has been dominated by multinationals who took the profit out of the country.
The government now supports cocoa processing in the country, meaning jobs and profits for locals.

Emiliano Sarmiento
Emiliano is a peasant farmer who was landless until 2002. Thanks to land reform and support for food sovereignty he has been able to found a cooperative farm with 84 other families.
"In the past I worked on someone else’s land...(now) we are producing and we’re looking after the land. It depends on us."
