Faith groups – vital support

The World Development Movement (WDM) is extremely grateful to a number of faith groups for helping us to raise awareness of global justice issues and achieve real change for the world’s poorest people. Many religions find charitable giving to be an integral part of their faith and the need to treat people with respect and help others whenever possible is common to many faiths.

We are constantly looking for support from new organisations and would be most pleased to hear from any faith groups who would like to join our illustrious list of partners:

WDM receives significant support from members of the United Reform Church through the Commitment for Life Scheme through which churches agree to commit to tackling global poverty through raising awareness and financial support.

Many Anglican Diocese are long-term supporters of WDM and we have a particularly close relationship with St Albans diocese. World Development Advisors often find WDM’s materials very helpful in reaching out to congregations to inspire them to take action to address global injustices. Other significant diocese are Carlisle, Rochester, and Bath and Wells.

The Methodist Relief and Development Fund has committed to support WDM into 2007 by providing financial support to our programme of work raising awareness of the impacts of climate change on the poorest people in the world and the need to tackle global emissions.

WDM are pleased to be working with the Muslim think-tank Thinkers Forum International on a variety of issues of strategic importance to both groups.

Our aim is to continue to develop these links while growing our connections with faith based groups to reflect the diversity of UK culture.
