WDM and the WDM Trust
The World Development Movement (WDM) was established in 1970 as a not-for-profit company, enabling us to take an uncompromising stance on some types of campaigning which may be restricted under charity law. When you join WDM with a direct debit, or credit card donation, you are joining the not-for-profit company part of the organisation.
At the same time, WDM Trust was established as a registered charity, funding WDM's core work on research, public awareness and publications. Although there are more restrictions on what the income from WDM trust can be spent on, it is possible to reclaim gift aid.
Tax effective giving is a great way to support WDM Trust, as your donation is worth more at no extra cost to you. We either reclaim the tax you have paid on the donation or tax is not deducted. WDM Trust does all the claiming so giving tax effectively is very simple.
