Nicola Ansell
I joined WDM because I was convinced it really understood the causes of poverty and what needs to be done to tackle them. In the subsequent 12 years I’ve realised that WDM not only has the right approach, it is also highly effective.
I’ve been an active member of Richmond and Kingston WDM group since 2004, attending meetings, running stalls and lobbying MPs. From 2008-2010, I was (joint) London area representative. In this role I facilitated quarterly cross-group meetings, organised annual ‘teach-ins’ and started a London newsletter. I have been on council since 2008, initially as an area representative and since 2010 as national secretary. I seek to ensure that WDM’s policies and campaigns are both focused on transformative change and sensitive to the realities of local campaigning.
